This apartment marks a meaningful first; the first home of a young family. They began with a traditionally designed apartment and made it entirely their own; brighter, bolder, and full of life. The clients, who grew up with a deep connection to the Canadian landscape, wanted their interiors to carry that same sense of the natural world: bright and open, but grounded by rich, earthy color. Color became our design language, the thread we used to weave distinct spaces into a single, cohesive whole. Working with an existing palette in the entry and media room, we introduced a botanical wallpaper that echoed the living room's hues. We painted the hallways in a soft, warm pink that made the whole apartment feel considered rather than assembled. Vintage finds brought both history and a sense of playfulness to the space; a daybed sourced from 1stDibs and reupholstered in Pierre Frey's Limpopo in Pistache anchors the living area, its colors pulling the entire space into harmony, while a red leather credenza sourced from South Loop Loft holds court near the bar, record player on top, and feels perfectly at home at a party. Together, they strike the balance the clients were after: a home with soul, character, and an effortless sense of fun. The clients' love of art set the tone from the start: a piece discovered on a trip to Paris became the anchor of a growing collection, and the rest of the design fell beautifully into place around it.
