ONE VANDAM

Project: One Vandam
Location: Soho, NYC
Status: Completed

Building Architect: BKSK. Developed by Quinlan Development Group and Tavros.

Interiors, lobby and common spaces. In our first large scale development project, we created a cohesive vision for the interiors of the building. Our design enhances the airiness of the spaces within, fused with the industrial past of the neighborhood.  In the apartments, the custom kitchens, each with floor to ceiling windows, are comprised of bleached walnut cabinetry which maintains the natural character of the wood while creating a clean and modern feel.  The finishes in the bathrooms are soft but detailed, with dual glazed tiles by Heath Ceramics and custom oxidized maple vanities.  The plumbing by Watermark is custom designed by Studio DB for this project, inspired by a punk metal stud, but refined in an elegant manner and finished in polished nickel.  The powder room takes a richer tone, with bold tiles from Waterworks, a custom marble slab sink, and leather Jacques Adnet mirrors. The wood flooring used throughout has a custom stain developed with The Hudson Company, a local wood purveyor. The lobby design responds to the L shaped configuration, creating a grid on the ceiling of metal fins that both leads your eye back to the green courtyard beyond and defines the seating area within.  The balance between the concrete floors, the soft textures of linen wallpaper, the natural character of walnut cabinetry create warm and rich common spaces.
