Project: Kent Addition
Location: Kent, Connecticut
Status: Expected Completion - Spring 2011
Description: This addition was designed as a room for entertaining and as a family room. The large twenty foot wide pocketing wall of glass creates a connection to the beautiful natural surroundings. The exterior walls are made from concrete formed using mushroom board, leaving the exaggerated imprint of the wood grain. The green roof, planted with succulents and local vegetation, acts as a continuation of the rolling hills beyond and creates an added layer of insulation. The connection to the main house, a tunnel of glass, allows for the room and the main house to be joined, yet remain separate but linked entities.
